Why the conference

Healthcare IT Innovation Asia Summit, March 14-15, 2012 Singapore

The ageing population, chronic disease care and increased patient awareness call for the creation of a pervasive healthcare environment, placing more demand on resources to provide quality care for greater populations. Asian governments and hospitals are turning to technology as the key enabler to ensure patient safety and quality of care, and to yield better healthcare outcomes within the resource constrain.

The Singapore government, among a number of Asian governments, has implemented a nation-wide EHR connecting primary, secondary, tertiary and community care for enhanced patient experience and safety. In this process, major challenges identified include:

  • Data storage, privacy and security
  • Data management and analysis for enhanced clinical decision support, and for advancing medical research
  • EHR funding models for its sustainable development
  • Policies to protect data security and access control
  • Adoption of cloud solutions, mobile, telemedicine and RFID technologies for improved patient safety

These can only be addressed through collaborations of all stakeholders including governments, hospital CXOs, department heads, technology providers and private investors.

The Healthcare IT Innovation Asia Summit provides a platform to bring together all stakeholders to address the issues and challenges faced in IT implementation and clinical work process designs.

“ Health IT can start as simply as taking a phone call to a doctor, up to building a seamlessly integrated healthcare workflow. On the one hand, IT functions as an enabler in delivering faster and more accurate medical information to end users and at the same time reducing the manual labour-intensive process.”
